VERNON, NY– The 40th anniversary season of stock car racing at Utica-Rome Speedway continues during the month of July at the popular half-mile located on Route 5 in Vernon. Scheduled are five thrilling Sunday evening DIRT Motorsports sanctioned professional race programs, with gates opening at 4pm, and racing beginning at 6pm sharp.
Sunday July 1 kicks off the month with an Independence Weekend Spectacular, featuring Twin 20-lap features for the DIRT 358-Modifieds and a breathtaking fireworks display following the evening’s events. The first Twin 20 event will offer a guaranteed starting spot to the race winner for the Super DIRT Week Sunoco/A-Plus 358-Modified Championship 200-lap event at Syracuse on October 6. Also scheduled are the DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Slingshots.
On Sunday July 8 will be the return of the popular Family Autograph night, where race fans may get up close and personal with their favorite race drivers and cars in the speedway infield during intermission. Race fans will be able to get autographs as well as visit with and take pictures with their favorite stars of the speedway. In race competition will be the DIRT 358-Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Slingshots.
FEDERATED AUTO PARTS will present the racing action scheduled for Sunday July 15 at Utica-Rome, with a regular program of DIRT 358-Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman (Non-Point), DIRT Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Slingshots.
Sunday July 22 will be NICE N’ EASY GROCERY SHOPPES night at Utica-Rome, with a five star program of DIRT 358-Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Slingshots on the race card. During intermission, the popular One on One Spectator Races will be contested on the speedway racing surface.
SCHMIDT TRUCKING along with the EUCLID HOTEL & RESTAURANT will present the final show of the month on July 29 at the speedway. In race action will be the DIRT 358-Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Slingshots.
You can be a part of the "Fastest Family Fun in Central New York" this summer at the Utica-Rome Speedway, a Sunday family tradition in the Mohawk Valley that produces some of the most exciting three and four wide racing of the entire 26-track DIRT Motorsports circuit. Weekly Sunday evening racing action runs from May until mid September, and racing is completed usually by 10pm to allow people time to go home and prepare for the week ahead.
The track is located just east of the village of Vernon on Route 5 and is easily accessible from New York State Thruway Exit 33. Free parking and overnight camping is allowed on speedway grounds.
