VERNON, NY- This Sunday July 27, Walton's Farm and Auto Repair will present a regular show DIRT 358-Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks, and Pure Stocks plus the popular Family Autrograph night. Gates will open at 4 p.m. with racing at 6 p.m.

Veteran Dale Planck continues to set the pace in the headline 358-Modified division, guiding his LYM Motorsports no. 77x to two wins and nine top five finishes. Planck currently sits atop the point standings with Mitch Gibbs, Todd Burley, Willy Decker, and Matt Sheppard filling the out the top five. Other drivers looking to improve their position in the season long standings include Jeff Kotary, Kevin Crave, Gus Schmidt, Mark Flach, John Ramsey, and a host of others. Along with Planck's two wins, Burley also has two wins, with Gibbs, Decker, Sheppard, Gus Schmidt, Pete Taylor, and Jim Rothwell have one win each.

The Sportsman division is providing the best point battle this season at Utica-Rome Speedway despite one driver seemingly dominating victory lane. Jamie Christian has a slim two-point lead over Bill Shantel, Jr., with John Scarborough, Paul Carey, and Tim Clemons making up the rest of the top five in standings. Just 18 points behind the point leader Christian sits young female racer Jessica Zemken in sixth place in points. Clemons has had an amazing year so far with 4 wins at the speedway, with Christian collecting two, and Shantel, Zemken, and Steve Way netting one win each.

Jerry Holmes continues to set a blistering pace in the Pro Stocks, grabbing 4 wins and the point lead to this point. Bret Belden, Eric Vanderhoof, Buddy Hencke, and Bill Knapp trail the fast Holmes in the point standings. Belden, Hencke, Knapp, Jason Rood, Joe Palmer, and Tom Denton have all scored one win.

Jim Thomas is having his best season in years, scoring two victories and currently sitting atop the Pure Stock standings. Despite a scary crash that destroyed his car, Newman sits in second in points after borrowing a ride from fellow competitor George Schulze. Waylan Wilczek, Dave Pope, and Rick Condes make up the rest of the top five. Along with Thomas' two wins, Herm Staats and Chuck Cushman also have to wins while Newman, Pope, and Rick Trexler have one win each.

The popular Family Autograph Night is always a fan favorite. Fans will have access to all the Utica-Rome competitors during intermission for autographs and pictures. This is especially popular for the younger fans that don't have access to the pit area.

Just four days later Thursday July 31, the Utica-Rome Speedway roars to life again when Tracey Road Equipment and Gates-Cole Insurance present the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRT Series for the DIRT Big Block Modifieds (100 laps) and a regular show of Pro Stocks. Gates for this special midweek show will open at 4 p.m., with time trials at 6:30 p.m., and racing at 7 p.m.

Utica-Rome Speedway is easily found on Route 5 in Vernon NY, just a short drive from New York State Thruway Exit 33. Information on upcoming events, point standings, and track history can be found at www.uticaromespeedway.com, or you can call the speedway office at (315) 829-4557.
