VERNON, NY - The New Utica-Rome and Can-Am International Speedways have finalized the Pure Stock divisional rules for the 2001-racing season.

For all Utica-Rome Pure Stocks, the rules will be unchanged from the 2000 season in order to keep the division competitive and stable, at the lowest possible cost to the competitors.

However, at Can-Am, the I.M.C.A. Hobby Stock division will no longer be sanctioned by I.M.C.A., and will change their divisional name to "Pure Stocks". In addition, all Can-Am Pure Stocks will have the same set of rules as the Pure Stocks at Utica-Rome, the new sister track to Can-Am. This move is to ensure that the Can-Am drivers will be able to race and be competitive at Utica-Rome.

Utica-Rome owner/promoter Eric Kingsley, who is also the new promoter at Can-Am, stated, "In 2000, a few Can-Am Hobby Stocks raced at Utica-Rome, and they were similar to and competitive with our Pure Stocks. With the new alliance between the tracks, we would like all competitors to merge their cars over to Utica-Rome rules, so they can race at either track in 2001."

The 2001 Utica-Rome/Can-Am Speedway Pure Stock rules are available at and can be printed off the Utica-Rome website, located at http://www.newuticaromespeedway.com/rules/purestockrules2001.htm.
