New series for Pure Stocks to debut at Utica-Rome Speedway.
VERNON- The Battle Of the Street Stock (BOSS) Series will begin its inaugural season at Utica-Rome Speedway on June 1st. This will be the first of six events on the BOSS Series tour.
Longtime racer and businessman Don Whiteside started the series with the weekend warrior in mind, allowing drivers to try different tracks and test their talents against drivers they normally don't compete against. The event will pay $300 to the winner, while paying $30 to start. The top five in 2003 Utica-Rome Speedway Pure Stock points will be guaranteed for this event. An entry fee of just $10 will be required to compete.
Other tracks on the series include Rolling Wheels Raceway, Canandaigua Speedway, Freedom Raceway, Genesee Speedway, and Ransomville Speedway. A driver only has to compete in 5 of the 6 events to compete for the overall BOSS title. Any driver who competes in all 6 events will have their worst finish dropped from their total. This will allow the low buck racer to remain in the title hunt if they aren't able to make all the events. A $1250 point fund has been set up for overall top 5 in the BOSS Series with $500 going to the overall BOSS point champion. All Pure Stock/Street Stock competitors are invited to compete as long as they conform to home track rules from the following tracks: Utica-Rome, Canandaigua, Freeedom, Genesee, or Ransomville.
Utica-Rome Speedway will begin the season with a special "Test and Tune" session on April 21st with racing action officially starting on Sunday, April 27th. Log on to the speedway website at www.uticaromespeedway.com for more information or call the speedway office at (315) 822-6336.
