USPRO Cup Racing Inc. and Angola Motor Speedway have reached an agreement and have announced that the USPRO Cup series will visit the speedway July 19th for a special 50 lap event. It will be USPRO's only appearance in the Hoosier State during 2003.
" I am just really pleased over this announcement. We have been working hard with AMS ( Angola Motor Speedway ) since last year and wanted a date there at their track. Because we have several Hoosier drivers, this will be a reunion of sorts for these guys. It's just a great deal all around for both USPRO and AMS, " said Ron Varney Jr., President of USPRO Cup Racing.
The series currently has several Indiana drivers who have raced the full schedule this season. Steve Shlater, Mike Simon and Rick Everidge are current USPRO drivers who are Indiana residents.
" Its always great to race in your home state. Several of us have been wanting a race in Indiana and its great to see it all come together. I know the interest in USPRO by Indiana drivers as well as the race fans down here is starting to grow so the race will be a great one for everyone involved. As for myself and crew its going to be a fun night for all of us. It gives us the chance to race in front of our home state fans, friends and family", said Mike Simon, a USPRO driver and a regular in the series.
The race will be held on July 19th. Race times for Angola are one hour ahead of Michigan's because of the differing time zone changes. Pit Gates will open at 2:00, Practice starts at 2:30 and qualifying begins at 4:30. Racing action will start at 7:00.
