Hal Goodson and Scott Hall Set to Tag Team USAR ProCup Series Competition @Taylor Motorsports to Enter Two-Car Effort in Next Three Events
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., (July 30, 2001) -- Taylor Motorsports will be bringing a two-car arsenal of driving talent in the form of Hal Goodson and Scott Hall to the next three USAR ProCup Series Southern Division events. The teammates began their assault this Saturday in ProCup Series action at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway.
Goodson heads into the event looking to get back on track. While the driver of the No. 45 Carlin Financial Chevrolet Monte Carlo has been able to post top-five finishes in recent weeks, his competitors in the points race have been able to close ground. Goodson trails point's leader Bobby Gill by 31 points.
"We've been off a little the past couple of weeks, but I'm confident that we are taking a car to Hickory this weekend that can contend for the win. Colan (Ingle) and the entire crew have been working to give me a great car for this weekend. We finished second back in May at Hickory, so hopefully we can move up one spot and get into victory lane."
Scott Hall heads into the event at Hickory looking to gain more seat time and continue to earn the respect of his competitors. In his last USAR ProCup Series outing at Lonesome Pine Raceway in Coeburn, Va., Hall posted an impressive 13th-place finish in only his second Series start.
"Man, I can't wait to get back in the ProCup car for this weekend's race at Hickory," the Walkertown, N.C. resident said. "We had a good run at Lonesome Pine a few weeks back and I've already raced at Hickory in a late model car several times this season so I'm familiar with what line to run around the track. My crew chief and brother Jason and everyone on this No. 54 Carlin Financial team are excited about this weekend's race."
The USAR ProCup Series event at Hickory Motor Speedway will mark the first of three consecutive ProCup races for Hall. He will also enter events at South Boston (Va.) Speedway, Aug. 18, and USA Int'l Speedway in Lakeland, Fla., Sept. 1. The team plans to run the complete USAR ProCup Series schedule in 2002.
USAR ProCup Series qualifying at Hickory Motor Speedway is set for this Saturday at 5:30 p.m. EST. The green flag waves later that night at 8:00 p.m. EST.
