Goodson Heads to Peach State Ready to Do Battle USAR ProCup Series Driver Set for Action Saturday Night
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (May 7, 2001) -- When the USAR ProCup Series takes to the track this weekend at Peach State Speedway in Jefferson, Ga., Hal Goodson and Taylor Motorsports will be looking for a return to victory lane.
Goodson heads into the event coming off the team's first NASCAR Busch Series race last weekend at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway. Goodson's solid run in the Richmond race ended early when his machine was tapped from behind by another car, sending the Darlington, S.C. native hard into the wall. While the impact caused extensive damage to the car, Goodson was able to walk away unscathed.
"We have to put what happened at Richmond behind us," Goodson said. "This week is another week and there's more racing to be done. I'm looking forward to getting back in the car this weekend and racing at Peach State."
In the first five events on the USAR ProCup Series Southern Division this season, Goodson has one victory, two top-five's and four top-ten's, and currently sits fifth in series point standings.
"We are taking a car to Peach State this weekend that is capable of running up front and contending for the win," Goodson said. "I feel very confident heading into this weekend's race."
USAR ProCup Series qualifying at Peach State Speedway is set for Sat., May 12 at 4:30 p.m. EST. The 250-lap event will get the green flag later that evening at 7:00 p.m. EST.
