SOUTH BOSTON, Va. (August 21, 2000) -- Jon Wood and his goracing.com Taurus survived a race plagued with nine cautions and scored his fifth consecutive top-10 finish.

After starting the race from the 12th position, Wood raced into the top-10 before a multi-car accident occurred on lap 83. When Wood checked up to avoid the wreck he was hit from behind and sent into the outside wall.

His Goracing.com Taurus suffered major damage to the right-front of the racecar. The incident forced Wood to pit road and the team was successful at making repairs. He returned to the track and restarted the race from the 18th position.

After the restart Wood peaked as high as 3rd before dropping back to finish the race in 7th. The solid finish allowed Wood to maintain 5th position in the USAR Hooters ProCup Series Points Standings.

"It was a wild race out there," stated Wood as he spoke of his fifth consecutive top-10 finish. "We were caught up in the big wreck and it damaged the right-front of the racecar. We were able to post a solid finish and I'm looking forward to racing again in a couple of weeks at Lakeland. I have one race under my belt there and that should help us to improve on our results. We're having a solid year in the standings and I'm really proud of the team for all of their hard work."

Jon Wood and the goracing.com Taurus next head to USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Florida on September 2, 2000. Wood's last outing at USA International Speedway resulted in a 5th place starting spot and a 5th place finish.
