Tim Bainey Jr. and the Greased Lightning Racing Team 11th at South Boston
Osceola Mills, PA-Tim Bainey Jr. and the No. 15 Greased Lightning Racing Team came home with an 11th-place finish in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series Lucas Oil 250 at South Boston Speedway over the weekend.
"We are still working to get the car back to where it was before the wreck at Erie," said Bainey Jr. "We ran the car at Radford a few weeks ago and it wasn't very good. We made some changes on the car and it was a lot better today, but we still have a little more tuning to do."
The Greased Lightning Racing Team qualified 16th for the event, clocking in at 16.259 seconds - less than 2-tenths of a second behind the pole time of 16.063 of Woody Howard.
"We got the car back to being close," said crew chief Dan Bainey. "This is only the second time we have run the car since Erie. We weren't far off, but when you have almost 30 cars that can run within 3-tenths of each other - a little bit ends up being a lot. So we have a little more work to do with it."
Tim Jr. ran just inside the top-15 throughout the event. The Greased Lightning Team worked throughout the night making adjustments and moved up a few positions during the later stages of the race. They would finish 11th.
"It wasn't a great night - But it wasn't that bad either," said Tim Jr. "We are trying to get back in the top-10 of the points with just two races left. We made some gains tonight on the guys we are battling - we are within 20 points of the 9th position right now. We are looking forward to seeing if we can get up there in the last 2 races."
The team is currently 11th in the Chase for the 2005 USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series Championship. The next event for the Greased Lightning Team will be Saturday Night August 20th at Illiana Speedway.
You can catch the Lucas Oil 250 broadcast from Salem this Saturday night, August 13 at 10 p.m. on the Speed Channel. Don't forget to tune in and catch all the action from the weekend's event.
