CAP Sports Returns to Hooters Pro Cup
Regional television package, syndication put Pro Cup in 100 million-plus households
Myrtle Beach, S.C.--For a third consecutive year, the Hooters Pro Cup Series will be broadcast into more the 100 million households during the 2008 season. The bulk of the households will come from nationwide partner VERSUS, which currently has 74 million subscribers. But through the efforts of CAP Sports, a leader in sports television syndication, the Hooters Pro Cup Series has already added over 60 million households to its comprehensive television package in 2008.
"I've really enjoyed working with the series over the past three years," said Curt Pires, owner of CAP Sports Group, LLC. "Each year we've been able to add new television partners, and we hope in the near future that every person in America can watch the Hooters Pro Cup Series at their convenience. It's going to take some hard work, but the product makes it a little easier."
The newest members of the regional family are Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast, Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, Comcast SportsNet New England, Comcast SportsNet West and Lonestar Sports in Texas.
The Comcast partnership alone covers nearly 20 million households, and Lonestar Sports is the first Texas affiliate to pick up the Hooters Pro Cup events.
"Last season, our races aired an average of 48 times apiece. That is over 1,000 hours of air time dedicated to the drivers, teams and sponsors in the series," said Gene Cox, USAR President. "Since we added CAP Sports, I firmly believe that our television package has become one of the best in business."
CAP Sports is a sports media company that specializes in creating unique business plans to fit the individual client. And its list of clientele is pretty impressive.
In addition to the Hooters Pro Cup Series, CAP Sports has worked with the Charlotte Bobcats, Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians and U.S. Naval Academy on various media projects.
Prior to starting CAP Sports, Pires spent nearly 14 years at ESPN, Inc. in many different facets of the company, including syndication sales and production, regional and national programming and communications. He headed ESPN's efforts to create a syndication sales arm in 2002 and lead the company's regional sports network strategy including the syndication of ESPNEWS.
The regional networks will start airing the each episode during the week following VERSUS' premier airing. Please check local listings for the air times. More regional networks will be announced in the near future.
