Danny Jackson Turns It Around at Salem Speedway
Jackson Races to a 5th Place Finish
Cincinnati, OH (July 2, 2007) Danny Jackson was all smiles after the 200-lap race at Salem Speedway on Saturday, June 30th. It was a great ending for the month of June that seemed like it could not get any worse. Jackson has not had the best of luck in this year's Hooters Pro Cup Series and was determined to turn things around for the Redbank Transport/Tri-State Sterling/Lykins Companies/Ultra Lube/Beamer Brothers race team.
After an encouraging practice session on Friday before the race, Jackson was hopeful going into Saturday's race day events. Jackson had a decent practice session on Saturday and qualified in the 18th position. Jackson said that he knew he had a good car for the race.
He was not excited about the 18th starting position because of the history at Salem Speedway. There were more cars entered than usual and Salem is known for the damage it causes to the cars. For the first 50 laps, Jackson relaxed and settled in to work his way up to the front. After some of the front cars pitted, Jackson was in the top 5 for several laps. Jackson pitted and took on tires and gas then concentrated on getting the orange #05 Redbank Transport Chevy back up to the front.
"It was a great race. I knew the car was going to be good and I just relaxed and worked my way up to the front. I had a fast car and it was a great show. It is a great feeling to know that all of our hard work has gotten us back into the top five. My crew did an excellent job getting the car ready and making our pit stops fast and I want to thank them for that. It's been a long weekend, but it turned out in our favor. I also want to thank all of my sponsors who turned out for tonight's race and all the fans. We had a group from our new sponsor in 2007, Beamer Brothers Trucking and I am glad they got to see a great race. I appreciate all of their support. It was great to see so many people in the stands."
