DANNY JACKSON LOOKS AHEAD TO SALEM SPEEDWAY JACKSON HOPES TO TURN THINGS AROUND
June 25, 2007 (Cincinnati, OH) As Jackson reflects back on the June 9th race in the Hooters Pro Cup Series at Mansfield, OH, the driver of the Redbank Transport/Tri-State Sterling/Lykins Companies/Ultra Lube/Beamer Brothers Trucking Chevrolet was clearly frustrated.
"The car handled great in practice, but we could not get it faster. It was a frustrating day all around. Mansfield is a track I should have had a better showing not only for myself, but also for my team, fans, and sponsors. It's difficult because I set high expectations for myself and when we don't perform well, it's tough." Jackson finished in the 25th position.
Now looking ahead to Salem, IN on June 30th, Jackson and his team are on the making some tough decisions regarding the rest of the 2007 Hooters Pro Cup Series. It's possible that Jackson will not run the full schedule for the Northern Division. Car owner, Dave Jackson said, "Without the addition of a primary sponsor, we are looking to exclude some tracks from our schedule. It's just not financially feasible unless we can attract a primary sponsor."
Jackson hasn't decided which races he will run, but is entered for the Salem race. "Salem is a track that I have experience at. I am hoping that this weekend will be the weekend we turn things around. You never know what is going to happen at these races." After Salem, Jackson and his team will decide on a race-to-race basis which ones to run.
In the mean time, Jackson took a break from the Hooters Pro Cup Series and was scheduled to return to the CRA (Champion Racing Association) Super Series race at Illiana Speedway. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate and the race was cancelled. Jackson was the 2006 CRA Super Series Rookie of the Year and finished 5th in the overall points.
