Lamb & Robinson Motorsports Wins Challenge
Lakeland, FL - Jamie Mosley knew going in to Saturday afternoon's competition his team had a chance to place well in the 2004 BFGoodrich Tires Pit Crew Challenge based on their previous pit stops during the Championship Series events. Mosley's crew had consistently gotten Bobby Gill in and out of the pits faster than just about every team during race conditions in the four previous championship series races.
Their talent was showcased during the BFGoodrich Tires Pit Crew Challenge as Mosley and his crew won the annual event with a stop of 26.955 seconds and collected over $4,000 in money and prizes with the win.
``We felt like at the beginning of the year we could pass teams easier in the pits than we could on the track and it paid off for us tonight,'' said Mosley. ``They [pit crew] earned it. They have been working hard all year.''
Shane Huffman came home second as his XTRA Motorsports crew finished with a 27.000 second pit stop and 2004 USAR Hooters ProCup Series champion Clay Rogers finished in third. Huffman won $3,000 for his crew and Rogers pocketed $2,000 for the team.
This was the third consecutive year the pit crew challenge has been held to showcase the talents of the USAR Hooters ProCup Series crews. Each team is required to perform one mandatory pit stop during each race during the season and this contest is designed to showcase their talents. A total of 10 teams competed for the title as the top-five regular season finishers from each division are eligible to compete.
The teams of Benny Gordon and Jeff Agnew finished fourth and fifth, respectively, while Joe Gaita was sixth. Gary St. Amant finished seventh and Johnny Rumley followed in eighth. Brad Rogers was ninth and Mardy Lindley rounded out the competition after his time was not allowed after he lost a transmission trying to exit the pits.
