Peach State Speedway revs up to begin 2003 USAR Season.
Jefferson, GA -- With the 2003 Peach State Speedway racing season set to begin the management and staff is looking forward to an exciting and prosperous year. This will be the first season the track will be sanctioned by United Speed Alliance Racing (USAR), the same sanctioning body which sanctions the Hooters ProCup Series.
"We have had a great turnout of drivers interested in running with us this year," said General Manager Elaine Mize. Peach State Speedway will feature 13 local races, on Georgia's fastest half-mile facility, along with hosting two USAR Hooters ProCup races. The track will also be Georgia's only track to feature the Super Late Models which will run the first Saturday of every month.
Expected entries to run on opening night, April 5, with the Super Late Models are ex-Atlanta Falcons coach, and NFL commentator Jerry Glanville. "Jerry called and said that he was excited about us bringing back the Super Late Models, and he will bring his car, which hasn't been at a race track in over four years," commented Mize. Other entries include Mark Wingo, Russell Fleeman, John Lucks, along with many others.
Besides the four-barreled Super Late Models, the track will feature the two-barreled Late Models, Sportsman, Modified Mini-Stock, and Mini-Stocks. Peach State Speedway will be running a bi-monthly schedule, with the 2003 season scheduled to take the green flag this Saturday night, April 5th.
Peach State Speedway is the only asphalt track in Georgia to run the Super Late Models. Grandstand tickets will be just $8.00 for Adults, $5.00 for children 11-15, and children 10 and under are free. Pit Passes will be sold for $15.00. The track will be open for practice on Thursday evenings before Saturday races.
