Jackson rolls to the Motor Mile after a good run at Salem.
Cincinnati, OH (July 3, 2008) - Danny Jackson rolled into Salem Speedway not knowing what to expect. Salem is one of those tracks that has seen a lot of damaged cars by the time the checkered flag is waved. For Jackson, his car rolled back onto the trailer with minor racing stripes.
Jackson started the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Northern Division Lucas Oil 200 in the 14th position. "I thought we had a good qualifying effort. It was going to take a few adjustments during the race to get the car where I wanted it. Unfortunately, we experienced a few issues once the race started that set us back." Jackson lost the power steering in his Redbank Transport/Lykins Companies/Greased Lightning Chevy around lap 60. "The car was very hard to steer around the track. I came in to figure out what the problem was and discovered that the line fell off of the power steering pump," Jackson explained.
Unfortunately, Jackson went two laps down on that pit stop and never regained a lap. "I had a good car. It felt good once I got the power steering fixed. I was trying to get a lap back racing with the leaders, but never could catch a break with a caution."
Jackson finished in the 11th position. Jackson said he was happy with the outcome considering the track's reputation and the fact that his car did not sustain any heavy damage. Jackson was the Clean Team best finisher of the race and is currently 19th in the Northern Division Point Standings.
Jackson heads to the Motor Mile at Radford, VA on Saturday, July 12th. Before Jackson heads to Radford, Jackson will join Cincinnati Bengals Kicker Shayne Graham for the 1st Annual Shayne Graham Celebrity Race-Off on Friday, July 11th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the MCC of Cincinnati. Jackson will have his car on display and will be signing autographs as well as participating in the race-off. To learn more about the event, please contact Hank Reed at email@example.com.
