FAYETTEVILLE, GA (September 11, 2000) – The United Speed Alliance Racing Hooters ProCup Series continues the toughest part of its schedule this weekend when the series returns to Montgomery Motor Speedway Saturday night for the Naturally Fresh 250 presented by Food World. USAR made its first visit to the one-half mile track on June 10. USAR Hooters ProCup Series points leader Bobby Gill began his record-setting run of four consecutive wins at the track and will contend again for a series leading seventh win. 1997 USAR Hooters ProCup Series champion Mario Gosselin won the Discount Auto Parts Pole Award in June with a time of 20.487 and led a total of 83 laps in that June race. Miller Lite Rookie of the Year candidate Sean Studer collected a season-best third-place finish at Montgomery in June, while fellow rookie candidate Clay Rogers began a stretch of five consecutive races with a top-five finish at Montgomery Motor Speedway. Jackaroo Sauces driver Jabe Jones also collected a season-best finish of seventh at Montgomery in June, Hooters ProCup Series newcomer Hal Goodson will try for his third consecutive Discount Auto Parts Pole Award at a track he has tasted success on before. Goodson won the race at South Boston in just his fourth career start in a ProCup car. "We were fortunate enough to win a race at Montogmery Motor Speedway back in 1993," said Goodson. "The track has a real abrasive surface and I don’t believe it has been repaved since then, so tire management will come into play at this track." Goodson also commented on the quick success he has enjoyed with Taylor Motorsports since he joined the team in July. "I had never really ran in the ProCup cars," said Goodson. "We had hoped for a win by the end of the season. Obviously we reached our goal quicker than we expected but this team has all the ingredients to win races and I hope we continue to be in contention for another win before the end of the season." Food World will host a pre-race celebration at the Food World on Main Street in Prattville on Friday, September 15 from 4 until 7 p.m. Sean Studer, Shane Huffman, and Jabe Jones are just a few of the drivers scheduled to appear at the store. For more information please contact USAR Media Relations Director Tim Southers at 800-852-7223. Tickets for the Naturally Fresh 250 presented by Food World are just $15 and are on sale now at Montgomery Motor Speedway.
