Mihalco Motorsports Has New Direction in 2004 with DJ Kennington.
Blenheim, On February 25, 2004 -- With the 2004 USAR Hooters Pro Cup Season quickly approaching, Mihalco Motorsports announced that they have retained the services of CASCAR series veteran DJ Kennington. DJ, who has competed in Canada's top level of motorsports since the age of 16 will pilot the #77 Ford Taurus in the Northern Division this year. Kennington, who is a strong competitor in CASCAR has built a impressive resume with highlights that include six CASCAR victories, top finishing Mopar team since 1999 and placing no further back than 4th in final season points standing for the CASCAR Super Series.
"I have watched DJ in many CASCAR races and I was impressed with his performance competing against drivers that had more years driving experience than DJ's age added Scott Mihalco the team owner. What really impressed me was last September in the final USAR event. DJ and crew were able to adapt very quickly to the Pro Cup car and were able to run in the top ten all night staying on the lead lap of the race. If it was not for the right rear tire that went flat with 9 laps remaining in the race, DJ would have gave us a top ten finish"
The team now looks to forward to gather some extra track time by making the 1300 mile trek south to Lakeland, Fl and competing in the first southern event that kicks off the 2004 season. " I look forward to competing in the Hooters Pro Cup series as a Rookie of the Year candidate Kennington said from the team's shop in St Thomas Ontario. These cars are a bit different than the CASCAR cars. We have a great group of guys that will help expedite our learning curve into this series"
