McGee and Jones Motorsports did not have the weekend they had hoped for but one thing is for sure, he is ready for Pensacola for the next USAR Hooter's Pro Cup Series race. This past Saturday Jabe Jones campaigned his Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the Jackaroo Sauces 250 at St. Augustine Speedway only to fall short of what was looking to be a good finish until his race car had rear end difficulties.
Just prior to an accident that involved several drivers and subsequently brought out a red flag, Jones was running fourth and looking to hold that position as well as to advance among the 36 race cars entered in the USAR Hooter's Pro Cup Series race. After qualifying 26, Jones made a run through the field that would make any team proud to fourth. Proud he was until he got caught up in the aftermath of the wreck that brought that red flag. Spinning out to avoid the accident, Jones sustained substantial damage to the nose of his Monte Carlo. While the damage was only cosmetic, it did cause him to drop down from his fourth position hold.
Rain at lap 125 caused the red flag to come out for an hour while track drying procedures took place. Unfortunately for the McGee and Jones Motorsports team, a problem with the rear end took Jabe Jones out of the race just before the red flag for rain and brought the race car behind the wall for the remainder of the race.
In talking with Jabe Jones, who is currently seeking sponsorship for his McGee and Jones Motorsports Monte Carlo, he said with a smile on his face..."We'll be back!" That should make any sponsor proud. Next race for the USAR Hooter's Pro Cup Race is March 31at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida for the Lucas Oil 250 presented by Johnsonville and Food World where Jabe Jones..."will be back!!!"
