Johnny Rumley Looks Ahead to Lake Erie

Summerfield, NC-Johnny Rumley, driver of the Lucas oil Products Boyd Sult Racing Chevrolet No. 8 in the United Speed Racing Association Hooters Pro Cup North Division, has his sights set on the next race at Lake Erie, Pa., after a disappointing run in Mansfield, Ohio.

"It was a bad weekend," Rumley said of the Mansfield 250 presented by Hooters Air. "We made some bad decisions."

The first bad decision was in car setup for qualifying, which left the veteran North Carolina-based driver digging his way up from 16th starting spot.

"We were decent," Rumley said, "but when we pit to make changes we went the wrong way. And then when we pit to change it back we hurt ourselves."

Rumley lost a lap after he was penalized for an infraction during the pit stop. He finished the race right where he started, 16th.

"We were a top-10 car for sure," Rumley said. "But we'll make it up at Lake Erie. I sat on the pole for that race last year and was leading when we had a problem. We're definitely going to run good, and hopefully bring Lucas and BSR a victory."
