Jason Sarvis Returns to Pro Cup with Naturally Fresh, Willingham Racing
Longs, SC-Jason Sarvis has seen racing from every angle.
In addition to being a capable wheelman, the 2002 Hooters Pro Cup champion has built cars, hung bodies and even served as a crew chief.
But after making sporadic starts during the '04 season, Sarvis will return to what he does best: driving fast.
"I just want to race," said Sarvis. "I enjoy the [Hooters Pro Cup] Series, and it's a fun place to race. I won't say that there's no pressure. There is pressure on me, because I want to win."
If you believe in fate, Sarvis may do just that in '05.
Sarvis will drive the No. 16 Naturally Fresh Ford out of the Haskell Willingham stable.
What's the significance?
Sarvis won the Myrtle Beach Speedway Championship in 1999 driving the No. 16. In 2002, Sarvis won the Hooters Pro Cup Championship with Naturally Fresh as a sponsor.
Add Haskell Willingham to the equation, and the winning formula is in place.
"I'm just glad Jason is back racing," said Willingham. "Even if he wasn't driving for me, he needs to be in a racecar. But I'm glad he's driving for me. He's just got so much talent."
While Willingham sees unlimited potential in his new driver, Sarvis sees himself in his new owner.
"If there's one car owner that's a racer, it is Haskell," said Sarvis. "He builds cars, builds engines, and drives the hauler. He reminds me of how I was when I raced at Myrtle Beach Speedway. When he leaves the shop, he's ready to win."
But for Willingham, winning hasn't been a common occurrence of late.
"My cars have always won, so the last year and a half has been hard," said Willingham. "I just can't thank Becky Cecil and the people at Naturally Fresh enough for sticking with us during the tough times. With Jason, I think we can win."
In addition to Sarvis and Naturally Fresh, Willingham's quest to return to the winner's circle will be helped by two new associate sponsors. CAMOVISION Eyewear and Fire King Firestarter have joined Willingham Motorsports for the '05 season.
