Hooters ProCup Series Announces Increase in Owner's Bonus Plan for 2005
Longs, SC-United Speed Alliance Racing announced the 2005 Car Owner Bonus Plan today. Under the new plan, teams in the Southern Division and Northern Division that finish in the top 15 in regular season points in 2005 will split more than $260,000 in 2006. The increase is more than $117,000 over the 2004 Car Owner Bonus Plan.
"We are currently in the third year of a 10-year sponsorship agreement with Hooters of America," said USAR president Gene Cox. "As part of the agreement, Hooters of America will provide incremental increases to add to the over $3,500,000 in posted awards and purses we have this season."
Currently, under the 2004 Car Owner Bonus Plan, the leading car owner in points at the end of the regular season will receive $1,100 per race in 2005. As part of the increase, the car owner that finishes first in the regular season in 2005 will receive $2,000 per race during the 2006 season.
"I think it's vital for the Series to look out for the car owners," said Mart Nesbitt, owner/driver of the No. 92 Blue Cross Blue Shield Ford. "I've been with the Series since it started and it keeps growing. But as it grows in popularity, the expense to run up front is going to grow. I'm just glad Hooters is stepping up and making sure the Series continues to grow. Adding to the bonus plan is well needed and very much appreciated."
Next year, five more teams join in on the bonus money.
Under the current plan, only teams that finish in the top 10 are eligible. In 2005, the number of teams will increase to include the top 15.
The payout will include both divisions.
