Holland, NY, - After having the 3rd fastest car in practice for Saturday's Capriotto Auto Parts 250 presented by Lucas Oil Products, Jay Fogleman experienced mechanical problems with the Lucas #4 Chevrolet during qualifying.
Faced with the decision to fix the problem and go to the back of the field or start 15th, the team elected to maintain their position. By lap 5, Fogleman had gained four spots, moving up to 11th. The Lucas Oil team seized an opportunity to work on the car during a lap 75 caution and again pitted on laps 87 and 94 to make adjustments. Fogleman lost a lap at this point when he was unable to make it out of the pits before the pace car on the figure 8 configuration.
Fogleman continued to move up during the remainder of the race, bringing the Lucas Oil products #4 Chevrolet to an 8th place finish. Points-wise, Fogleman is now in 7th place in overall series points. "Mechanical shock problems kept the team from capitalizing on an extremely fast race car, said Fogleman, "however, we are pleased with the results of our newly formed Lucas Oil race team, and are looking forward to returning to Jennerstown where we finished second in April."
JFco Motorsports hosted ten guests from the Heritage Center and three others from The People in Buffalo, NY during the Holland race, with Cas Dabrowski from the Heritage Center serving as an honorary pit crew member. The Heritage Center is a branch of JFco's official charity, The Arc. In associated pre-race activities, Fogleman was interviewed on WNSA radio, appeared with his race car and show car at an Infinity Broadcasting live remote at a Buffalo Sunoco station, and was a guest of Empire Sports in Buffalo, NY on their live talk show Friday, along with Julie Doerr of The Heritage Center.
Jeff Agnew captured the Lucas Halfway Leader Award for this event. The Holland race was not televised. The Lucas team moves next to Jennerstown Speedway on June 8.
