Ross ready to tackle Holland
May 15th, 2003 (Holland, NY) - Odle Motorsports, Inc driver Brian Ross is set to extend his USAR points lead when the series hits Holland International Speedway on May 24th.
"We're ready to extend our point lead," said the Plymouth, IN native. "We've had some great run this year so far, but we're ready to prove that were once again for real."
Ross holds a narrow five-point lead over Eric Corbett heading into the event. "The points are really tight right now," he said. "Our goal for the weekend is to have a good run, stay out of trouble and widen the points margin".
The 2002 USAR Hooters Pro Cup Northern Division Champion is leaving right where he left off last year. In only three starts this year, Ross has a win, two top five finishes, and a three top ten finishes with his worst finish of a sixth at Lonesome Raceway.
"The finishes have been good," said the driver of the No. 42 Poynter Drywall Ford. "We just have to keep our focus and keep doing what were doing week in and week out."
The former ARCA RE/MAX Series driver has is excited about the possibility of bringing home back-to-back championships.
"This team is awesome, I can not say enough about Darin, the crew, we all work hard, and while we know we have a shot at the championship, this is racing and anything can happen."
While Brian has competed in several racing series, he expresses on why the USAR series is so popular. "There's no doubt about it, there's soon to be champions here, it's tough week in and week out, the other competitors are getting better, and it's a stronger field," said Ross who competed in the ASA (American Speed Association) series in 2001.
In addition to his success in USAR, Ross holds an impressive record in the Sunoco Super Series where he holds 22 wins, ten poles, 47 top five finishes and 51 top ten finishes.
The 2002 USAR Hooters Pro Cup Rookie of the year also noted "I've been lucky, I've had some great experience on some great tracks, and wor king with some great people, hopefully, I'll be able to set a new record in this series before years end."
The fourth race of the 2003 USAR season is set for Saturday May 24th from Holland Speedway in Holland, New York. The race is scheduled to begin at 7:30pm with tape-delayed coverage available on the SPEED channel. For more information on the USAR series, please visit www.usarprocup.com
