Atlanta, GA., (September 14, 2003) -- Steven Christian and the Lucas Oil team ended the last race of the regular USAR season exactly where they took the green Saturday night.

After a 12th place start, Christian was first collected up in a lap 41 skirmish that claimed his rear bumper. Not thirty laps later, another encounter cost him the nose. After visiting the pits three times for sheet metal repair, Christian was off, but not in time to beat the pace car out.

"When we went a lap down, I knew it was going to be hard to make it up", said Christian.

The tone was set for the evening, as Christian lined up on the inside following caution after caution, only to fall back behind the leaders shortly after the green flew.

Following two more trips to the pits on lap 122 and 174 to remove yet more dangling sheet metal, Christian managed to bring the heavily damaged #2 Lucas Oil Chevrolet across the start/finish line 12th to end the night.

The first event of the Five Race Championship Series is just a week away, with the Southern and Northern teams converging on Winchester Speedway. "We'll be optimistic going into Winchester", said Christian. "Our luck has got to change."

The Hickory event will be aired by SPEED on Wednesday night at 10 p.m. (EST).
