Hampton, Eaton Ready for Another Year
Mooresville, N.C.-Mike Hampton is pleased to announce that Eaton Corporation will be a major sponsor of the Hampton Racing, Inc. No. 31n Ford running the 2007 USAR Hooters Pro Cup Northern Division.
"My association with Eaton Corporation began in 2002 and I am honored and extremely proud to enter the sixth year of our marketing partnership," said Hampton, a 21-year-old Pro Cup driver and junior at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. "I had no idea when I first placed an Eaton Cutler-Hammer decal on my Allison Legacy car in 2002 that I would be participating five years later in PRI 2006, the racing industry's largest trade show, and answering questions about the full line of Eaton Performance Products used in my USAR Pro Cup car.
"I am excited about the 2007 season and it was important for us to include Madison, Wis., in our plans. This will allow the Eaton Industrial Control Division team located in Milwaukee to participate in an exciting USAR event. The Northern schedule will also allow us to continue with the popular customer appreciation events in markets we were not able to race in last year. As a result, we decided to change to the North and thus it is necessary to change numbers as well. Our crew chief, Reggie Primus, is working hard to build a new primary car and we have made some important changes to our backup car."
The first 2007 race for the No. 31 Ford sponsored by Eaton will be Saturday, April 14 at South Boston Speedway in South Boston, Va. This track has great memories for this father and son team from Fort Mill, South Carolina. In 2004, the Allison Legacy series raced three times at South Boston. Mike and his Eaton sponsored No. 21 won two of the events and finished second to Trevor Bayne in the third South Boston race. Trevor also now competes in the USAR series.
Team owner, Terry Hampton states "Everyone on the team is looking forward to 2007 and while we have a lot of work to do in the next 71 days, it will be great to be back at the race track and talking with the race fans. I invite Eaton's customers and employees to follow our progress by attending the USAR Pro Cup events and watching them on television or visiting on-line at www.mikehamptonracing.com."
