Engine builder looking for second-year success

Myrtle Beach, S.C.-For nearly 40 years, Gaerte engines have been under the hoods of competitors across the country. But until last season, the powerplant maker hadn't ventured into the Hooters Pro Cup Series.

"We were approached at the end of the 2005 season to build an engine for a team," said Randy Jones, of Gaerte Engines, "and it quickly grew from there."

By the end of the season, Gaerte had eight clients competing in the series.

"We were able to win three races, three poles and the rookie title," said Jones. "It was a great effort for our first, full-time season in the series."

In 2007, Gaerte will continue to supply engines to many drivers in the Hooters Pro Cup Series and as a "Contingency Sponsor."

"We're looking for the same success-and more-with the great teams we have aboard," said Jones. "We are really happy with being a sponsor of the Hooters Pro Cup Series. This is the best short-track racing going, and I hope it gets even better this year."
