Fogleman Finishes Fifth on Day Off

Not content to stay home on a weekend off from the USAR Hooters ProCup Series, Jay Fogleman drove to a fifth-place finish Oct. 16 in the Shelor Motor Mile Chrysler/Dodge 500 for Late Model Stock Cars behind the wheel of a Billy Hess Late Model Dodge sponsored by V2 Performance.

Starting deep in the 39-car field at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va., Fogleman steadily picked his way through traffic. Following a mandated pit stop in the second half of the race, the Durham, N.C., driver was in the top 10. In the final 50 laps Fogleman's experience paid off with a top-five run.

"The car was better than we qualified," Fogleman said, "and we proved it with our finish today. Billy Hess has built a good piece here, and the Upchurch power under the hood did the job. This is the second time a Billy Hess car has finishd in the top five, as one got a fifth at Martinsville (the week before, in the Bailey's 300). These Hess Late Models are good cars."

Fogleman, driver of the JFco Motorsports, Lucas Oil Products Ford No. 4 in USAR Hooters ProCup competition, will return to Motor Mile when the ProCup series returns for its second-to-last Championship Series event. Meanwhile, he's looking forward to the series visit to Myrtle Beach Speedway.

"We're ready for the rest of these championship races," Fogleman said. "The car and the team have never worked better; I'm looking forward to it."
