"Young Star Again Impresses"
Pensacola, Florida (March 18, 2002) - Amid the heavy rolling fog, 18 year old Shane Wallace kept his composure and found his way to a 13th place finish in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup race at Five Flags Speedway. Wallace piloted his #4 Engine Ice Ford safely home after starting in the 8th position for the Naturally Fresh 250 presented by NAPA Auto Care Centers. The heavy fog added to the excitement of the evening, as 59 of the 250 laps were run under caution with 9 different yellow flags and one red flag stoppage.
"Much like Lakeland, we had a Top 10 car today but the breaks just did not fall our way," stated Wallace. "This was my first time at the track and I think we adapted pretty quick which allowed us to start the race up front. Overall, we accomplished our goals of running at the end of the race and making that run for the Rookie award."
Wallace currently stands 2nd in the Rookie points battle while holding down the 13th spot in the overall point standings for the Southern Division.
"This whole team gained valuable experience this weekend," stated team owner Ned Wallace. "Shane has been very solid these first 2 races and the team has worked hard to give him a good car each time. We are off to a very respectable start to the season and will continue to improve with each race."
The team continues its search for additional sponsorship support for the Mooresville (NC) High School senior and his family owned operation. The team has available various packages that allows Corporate Partners to take advantage of this "Young Rising Star" as well as the television and marketing power of the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series.
The team will have a few weeks to prepare as the next USAR Hooters Pro Cup (Southern) event is April 6th at New Smyrna Speedway.
