Orlando, FL--The Hooters Pro Cup Series and Crane Cams announced a two-year sponsorship agreement at the PRI Trade Show that will make Crane Cams' electronic ignition the "Official Ignition" of the Hooters Pro Cup Series starting in 2006.

The agreement will not only make Crane Cams the "Official Ignition" of USAR, but it will also give the ignition-system leader exclusive rights within the series. Those drivers without Crane Cams ignition systems in their cars don't have to rush out and buy new ones. As part of the partnership, Crane Cams will supply two ignition systems per driver for the 2006 season.

The systems will be doled out to drivers in pre-practice technical inspection and returned after the race. In addition, the Crane HI-6RL ignition will limit the RPMs to 8400.

"This is a change we've been looking to make for some time," said Tony Cox, Hooters Pro Cup Series Director. "Hopefully, this will prolong the life of our engines. Not all of our teams can afford to refresh engines after a couple of races. We believe this will help the smaller teams, but it should help the health of the series overall.

"Crane Cams has made a huge commitment to the Hooters Pro Cup Series with this package, and we're happy to have them taking a larger role in the series."

Crane Cams currently provides ignitions, coils, distributors, cams, rocker arms and valve-train components for race teams within the series and will continue to post contingency awards during the entire 30-race schedule.

"We're fully committed to grassroots racing, and that's exactly what this deal with Hooters Pro Cup racing is about" said Roger Wilson, Crane Cams Vice President. "There isn't a better short-track series out there. We have a 53-year history of being a supplier to the winners. We're known by the company we keep, and we believe the Hooters Pro Cup Series is a very important part of that company."
