Another New Track Could Yield More Solid Finishes for Pro Cup Rookies
CONCORD, NC (April 23, 2007) -- Turner Motorsports is ready to get back to racing action. They will have their opportunity to do that next weekend, as James Buescher and Gary Helton head to Concord Motorsport Park for the next event of the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Southern Division.
"I am really ready to go back Pro Cup Racing," said Buescher. "We have had a few weeks off and it's time to get back out on the track.
In preparation for the event, the team headed to North Carolina to have a test session, so that the two Pro Cup rookies could get some experience on the tri-oval track.
"We have just finished up a test in the car and we definitely learned a lot for this race testing at Concord," said Buescher. "It's a pretty unusual track, and I got some of the rookie 'mistakes' out on the track during the test session, so hopefully we will be able to drive it like a veteran at the race. It was my first time ever seeing that place. It's not my favorite racetrack in the world but you have to race all different types of tracks so that you can get more experience."
While it will be Buescher's first time at the track. For his teammate, veteran short track racer Helton, it will be a return trip. However, it will be Helton's first time making the stop in a Pro Cup car.
"Gary and I both tested there and it went well," added Buescher. "Gary had raced there before but it had been awhile so it was kind of like a new track to him as well. We took what we both learned and were able to put them together and I think that we came up with some pretty good things that will work next weekend.
"I think that we will get everything together for the race. I think that both cars should be up front and good when we come back for the race."
The Turner Motorsports team will have their next chance at victory when the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series return to action on Saturday, April 28th, at Concord Motorsport Park. Racing will get underway at 7:30 pm, and all USAR Hooters Pro Cup Races can be seen on SPEED Channel.
