Christian 6th at Concord after lap 63 spin

Atlanta, GA., (May 12, 2003) -- "We have never had any luck at Concord Motorspeedway", said Steven Christian following Saturday night's running of the Naturally Fresh Foods 250. Christian, who lined the #2 Lucas Oil/Blacks Tire Chevrolet up in 17th position for the green, had moved into the top ten and was running just two tenths of a second behind the leader when contact by the Shane Wallace machine sent Christian spinning.

Recovering nicely, Christian dove into the pits for minor adjustments, and came out on the tail of the pack. "It's always hard to work your way back to the front when something like that happens", said Christian. "We definitely has the set-up right tonight and should have finished much better. The same thing happened here (at Concord) last year. I guess I would have to say this is just not one of my favorite tracks to run."

Advancing steadily, Christian was able to move back up to 7th by the time the yellow flew on lap 172,. When Gosselin got loose on lap 225, Christian secured 6th behind Benny Gordon. The two battled for fifth position through several of the ensuing laps, with Christian coming across the start finish sixth.

Just 17 points out of second, Christian is optimistic about the next event in Lakeland. "If the Lucas Oil/Blacks Tire Chevrolet is running as well at Lakeland as it did at Concord, we'll definitely be a contender", said Christian.

This week's event will be aired on Friday, May 23 at 11:30 am and 8:00 pm as opposed to the usual Thursday airing.
