LONGS, SC -- For the fifth consecutive year the USAR Hooters ProCup Series will visit the beautiful Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, NC. The .400-mile speedway located just outside of Burlington, NC has provided some of the most exciting finishes in the history of the Series and that should be the case this Friday night for the running of the Naturally Fresh 250 presented by Dave's Discount Furniture.

Last season, Mardy Lindley passed Bobby Gill with two laps to go to win the race last season that was postponed a day due to rain the night before.

"We had a great car all night long," said Lindley. "I was able to get under Bobby a little and was able to make it stay down low to make the pass and get the win. That was a fun night for us."

While Lindley was able to get by Gill he also helped keep one streak in tact at the tight layout at Ace Speedway. There has never been a back-to-back winner at the speedway in the five previous events held at the speedway. Gill entered last year at Ace with an opportunity to become the first driver to do that after winning in 2002, but Lindley's pass kept him out of victory lane.

Although Gill didn't get the win, the three-time Series champion enters this weekend's race as the clear favorite coming off of a win at Concord Motorsport Park two weeks ago. Gill, who holds the record with 35 career wins in the Series, hopes to get his third career win at Ace Speedway and also become the first repeat winner in the Southern Division in 2004.

Veteran short track promoter Larry Barbare and his wife Gloria moved into the manager's role this season at Ace Speedway. Barbare looks forward to this weekend at his track.

"We are certainly pleased to have USAR bring the Hooters ProCup Series back to Ace Speedway," Barbare added. "This will be our biggest event of the year for our track and the Series always puts on a great show for the fans."

The Naturally Fresh 250 presented by Dave's Discount Furniture is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. with qualifying time trials for the cars at 5:30 pm. The fans are encouraged to come out to the track early to meet the drivers during a pre-race autograph session which begins at 6:45 pm.
