The USA Modified Series out of Fortville, IN. Honored their racers at the 2004 Awards Banquet at the Hoosier Park Horse Racing Facility in Anderson, IN. on Saturday January 8th. There was horsepower of a different kind taking center stage this night. Starting out the night was social hour and then a fantastic feast. The main speakers for the night were Race Director Keith Beeching, and The series owner Steve Ellis of Ellis Race Cars. Many people were in attendance at this premier facility, where drivers 1st through 15th in points received awards. Rodney Scott from New Castle, IN. took home the 2004 Champion Honors. 2nd place went to Jason Dietsch from Edgerton, Ohio. 3rd place is Scott Coe, (Fort Wayne, IN), 4th Damon Breedlove, (Greenfield, IN), 5th RJ Norton, (Indianapolis, IN) 6th Harold Scott, (New Castle, IN), 7th Mark Harrison, (Anderson, IN), 8th Dave Stacy,(Enon, Oh), 9th Gary Bedell, (Greenfield, IN), 10th Jeff Weston, (Noblesville, IN), 11th Ronnie Phipps, (Anderson, IN), 12th Don Skaggs, (Modoc, IN), 13th Mike Thurman, (Indianapolis, IN), 14th Steve Christman ,( Fort Wayne, IN) and 15th Brian Nester (Edon,OH).
These Special Awards were also presented; Crew Chief Of The Year went to Tom Dietsch, the father of racer Jason Dietsch. TW Metal Sportsmanship Award was presented to racer Mark Harrison. Woman Of The Year went to Marsha Scott. The Hard Charger Award went to Jason Dietsch. The Most Improved Racer was awarded to Damon Breedlove. The Citgo Perseverance Award went to Gary Bedell. The Demon Carb Best Appearing Award was given to Bull Baker. RJ Norton won the Lincoln Welding Rookie Of The Year.
Jimmy Wyman, one of the Tech Officials, was the MC for giving away many great door prizes, that were donated by Lincoln Welding, Demon Carbs, Dayton Enterprises, Citgo, TW Metals, Ellis Race Cars, and various people associated with the USA Modified Series. Jimmy added his own humor to this event that kept the racers and families entertained to the fullest. This may of even been his debut for being an mc for next years Awards Banquet.
These Fire Breathing, Ground Pounding, Premier Asphalt Modifieds may be coming to a track near you. They have released a Tentative Schedule for 2005 with more dates to be added before the racing season gets underway.
April 23rd Mansfield Motor Speedway 50-Laps, May 7th Baer Field Speedway 50-Laps, May 28th Indianapolis Raceway Park(IRP) 30-Laps, June 4th Anderson Speedway 50-Laps, June 11th Kalamazoo Speedway 50-Laps, July 2nd Anderson Speedway 50-Laps, July 16th Angola Motor Speedway 50-Laps, July 23rd Kalamazoo Speedway 50-Laps, July 30th 2nd Annual North vs South Shootout Riverview Speedway(Carthage,TN.)(Lil Bristol) 100-Laps, Sept. 4th Angola Motor Speedway 50-Laps, and Sept 10th Baer Field Speedway 50-Laps.
Some new items were announced for the 2005 season such as a new tire from Goodyear that will save the racers money because the tire will last longer and it should cut the racers expense of not having to buy as many tires in a season. A possible Modified Alliance between various tracks and Promoters where rules can be similar, so racers can race at various tracks. A new website for the USA Modifieds is soon to be released. Consistent Press Releases going out to many different Press agencies. A new message board at the new website where racers and fans can unite. This series is committed to the longevity of Modified racing and that can only happen if the racers are happy, The sponsors are happy, and you the Race Fans are entertained to the fullest.
2005 looks to be a Banner Year for the USA Modifieds.
