U.M.P. wishes to announce the scheduling and format of a new, exciting and unique Late Model racing series for 2003.
It is a series of twenty (20) races at leading U.M.P. Midwestern tracks. The winner of each of these twenty (20) races has a guaranteed starting spot in "The Challenge of Champions Race", toward the end of the year, date and site TBA. The "Challenge of Champions Race" will pay $15,000 to win, $500 to start, with a total purse of over $40,000.
Seventeen of the "Challenge of Champions" Series races will pay $2,000 to win, $200 to start. Three of the "Challenge of Champions" races will pay $5,000 to win, $300 to start.
Each race will have the fastest three (3) qualifiers starting on the inside row of the dash, and the three(3) highest in "Challenge of Champions" Series points starting on the outside row of the dash. That way, you have the best of both worlds. You reward the loyal and you encourage the first timers to participate and have a chance to start up front and earn a spot in the Championship Race.
This concept is unusual, it is unique, it is exciting. Challenge of Champions for 2003!
Twenty(20) Champions will be locked into the big Challenge of Champions Championship race, representing the track where they won a series race. In case of dual winners, the highest non-winner in series points will fill out the twenty (20) car field. Four(4) additional cars will race their way into the Championship Feature in one(1) or two(2) qualifying races that day for a total field of twenty-four(24).
A new and unique idea for 2003. Not just racing for a purse, but also battling for a guaranteed spot in a prestigious big money U.M.P. race.
