Hodgson Claims Maiden Pole for Havoline 100

Corby based teams Torquespeed and Team West-Tec dominate the front two rows of the grid as championship leader Stevie Hodgson (#24 Team Monopoly Torquespeed) claimed his first ever pole position in the Days of Thunder series for tomorrow's Havoline 100 from team-mate Anthony Swan (#23 Fotostop Torquespeed) and Oli Playle (#88 LibertyX Team West-Tec).

"We've been close on a couple of occasions but to finally claim pole is fantastic," said Stevie Hodgson. "The car and the team are working well and I'm really looking forward to tomorrows race."

Ian McKellar Jnr (#25 dsi Torquespeed), fresh from his win in Round 8 a month ago, held pole for a while during the session but dropped back to the second row by the end of qualifying. Hodgson's nearest championship rival John Steward (#75 Virgin Experiences Steward Racing) was 5th just ahead of top rookie Steve Hobday (#20 Coca-Cola Team Renegade) in sixth place, who was four places ahead of the next rookie, team-mate John Higgins (#19 crash.net Team Renegade) in tenth place.

Reigning DoT champion Ben Collins made it onto the track with minutes to spare after the Team Turn Four crew worked through the night repairing the #42 Texaco Havoline Racing Chevrolet after a visit to the wall in Friday practice. With only three laps before the chequered flag, Collins was unable to get a representative time and will start tomorrows Havoline 100 in 20th spot but is confident of making up places early in the race.

Tony King (#17 Kent Pharmaceutical HTML) was the only driver not to qualify after the HTML team found a problem with the cars rear axle and didn't have time to change it in time for the qualifying session. Tony King will line up at the back of the grid for tomorrow's Havoline 100.
