Trout/Hitchen Motorsports recently formed in Retford, England has announced they will be entering a car in the USPRO Cup series for 2003. Team Owner Mary Hitchen, a UK corporate CEO in the entertainment industry will own the team and manage it.
" Being in Formula 1 country, stock car racing is going to be new to me. But I have kept pace with NASCAR and through our USA consulting agency, Stone Vos Inc. we have kept abreast of the latest in racing in America, commented Mary Hitchen. I am excited to get involved at this level of racing and believe USPRO is here to stay and will grow tremendously in the next couple years ".
The team has signed veteran driver Fred Campbell for several races in 2003. In addition Campbell's son Brian Campbell will also share driving duties at selected tracks.
" The one requirement I had as the team owner was that quality veteran drivers drove the car. By us fielding this car with Brian and Fred it will make things easier for me. I simply can't ask for anyone better to be behind the wheel then these guys. They are both excellent drivers, proven winners and their prior accomplishment's in racing says it all. I am looking forward to a great season with them both", added Hitchen.
Troutt/Hitchen is working with Stone Vos Inc. to find one or possibly two more veteran drivers for the races that Brian and Fred have scheduling conflicts with. " There are several races that both Fred or Brian wont be able to make. But we are looking at a couple drivers who are veterans to fill in for them. We wont have any problems filling the seat with an experienced super late model driver that can bring the car home in one piece after each race, " Hitchen added.
The car, a Port City Chevy Monte Carlo was recently acquired from USPRO Cup Racing. The car which was going to be a house car for the series was made available after series President Ron Varney Jr. scrapped the house car idea and made the car available on a lease/purchase arrangement.
"Actually I was being teased by Ron Varney Jr. and Chris Throgmartin about being a car owner. I told them to make the car available to me and they will have their first female/European car owner in the series. I would have never done this if I didn't think this series was everything I have ever stood for in my business life. Integrity, and professionalism while being cost effective and fun. I have nothing but respect for Ron & Chris and because of my belief in them and their integrity as professional's I jumped at the chance," added Hitchen.
Hitchen will turning the car over to Fred Campbell in the ensuing two weeks and will be flying over from England to attend some of the race events this season. " We are really excited about having Ms. Hitchen in the series as a car owner. Mary's career reflects what we are trying to accomplish at USPRO. She is a very successful female executive in Europe and is well respected within the Entertainment industry throughout the world. She will be able to lend support and advice as well as a commitment to professionalism to this series ", said Ron Varney Jr., USPRO Cup President.
