HUDSON, NC -- Rock Harris was able to hold off a hard-charging John Michalowski, Jr. Friday night to win the 50-lap feature for the Tucson Late Models at Tri County Motor Speedway. The win came in front of a large crowd at the speedway for its annual Fan Appreciation Night at the speedway.
Michalowski followed in second with Dexter Canipe, Jr. in third. Jamie Yelton finished fourth with Dennis Gallion completing the top-five.
"It is great to get a win anytime here at Tri County," said Harris. "I just want to thank all the guys on the crew for their support and all of the fans who came out here tonight. It is always fun to race in front of big crowds."
The win was the third of the year for Harris as he pulls to within eight points of Michalowski in the chase for the track championship. A total of 27 Tucson Late Models competed in the race Friday night with 11 cars involved in an accident in turn one on lap 2.
Tim Canipe outdistanced Waylon Flynn to win his third mini stock race of the season. Hank Hefner finished third with Randy Canipe and Charlie Neil finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.
Marshall Sutton won the J & J Sandblasting Street Stock race over David Smith. Jesse LeFevers finished third while Chuck Suddreth and Jody Mitchem completed the top-five.
Jeff Hagaman won the Super Sport race with Tom Buzze winning the Modified feature. Joey Logano won the Allison Legacy Series 50-lap feature race.
