VERNON, NY - ECKERD DRUGS, located in the Glenwood Plaza on Route 46 in Oneida, invites area race fans to meet popular DIRT Motorsports drivers Andy Bachetti and Kenny Tremont this Thursday August 24 from Noon-2pm.
Bachetti and Tremont will be on hand to promote the NICE N' EASY GROCERY SHOPPES Advance Auto Parts Super DIRT Series 100-lap race for the DIRT Big Block Modifieds at the New Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon later the same day. The gates at Utica-Rome will open at 4pm, time trials will begin at 6:15pm, and qualifying races will begin at 7pm.
Bachetti and Tremont will be autographing special Eckerd driver cards, and will be available along with their cars for photo opportunities. One lucky fan at the event will be selected as the honorary flagger for the evening's 100-lap Super DIRT Series event at Utica-Rome. The winner of the 100-lap feature will become a guaranteed starter for Super DIRT Week's Eckerd 300 scheduled for Sunday October 8.
Andy Bachetti, from Shefield, MA, is known as the "Wildchild" to Utica-Rome race fans, and he is one of the most popular drivers at the speedway this season. Bachetti blistered Utica-Rome on Opening Day Sunday May 7, and rode to a convincing 40-lap feature win, his first win ever at the popular Vernon track.
Kenny Tremont Jr., from West Sand Lake, NY, is the 1987 Utica-Rome Speedway Big Block Modified Track Champion, with 4 career feature wins. Tremont, who is a Saturday night regular at the Lebanon Valley Speedway, has not raced at Utica-Rome since 1987. He is looking forward to returning to racing at the speedway and having a good finish in Thursday's race.
Bachetti and Tremont will head a huge contingent from all over the Northeast of the very best drivers DIRT Motorsports has to offer at Utica-Rome this Thursday. Top drivers vying for the $6,000 to win 100-lap all star event will include the McCreadies, the Johnsons, Steve Paine, Pat Ward, Dave Lape, Bobby Varin, Gary Balough, Mitch Gibbs, Tim Fuller, Billy Decker, Doug Hoffman, and many more.
It will be a night to remember at Utica-Rome, and many race fans are very excited and looking forward to this huge event, which will be the first Big Block Modified race at Utica-Rome since 1987.
Also in action Thursday will be the DIRT Sportsman division in a $500 to win 20-lap feature event that will count toward track point standings. A huge turnout of Sportsman is expected because no other track is running on the same night and plus the race will be a great tune up for UFPO "Dig Safely" Sportsman Super DIRT Series event on Sunday August 27.
The gates at Utica-Rome on Thursday will open at 4pm, time trials will begin at 6:15pm, and qualifying races will begin at 7pm.
