SENNEKER STRUGGLES TO 16TH, REMAINS 3RD IN ASA POINTS

September 29, 1995 "Toledo 400", Toledo (OH) Speedway Finished: 16th Started: 18th (105.956 mph)

Senneker started 18th and by lap 4 was running 15th, but things would be a struggle for the "Bluebird" after that. A crash developed in turn 3, with no where to go, Bob clipped the right front fender (wing) of the "Bluebird", forcing him to pit for repairs, the fender was ripped away, the shock was damaged and brake ducts were torn away. The crew made the necessary repairs and got Bob back out in the race without losing a lap, running 32nd on the field when the race went back to green at lap 14. There would be 6 more cautions before the lap 88 mark and Bob would pit at all of them as the crew was fine tuning the right front suspension on the Ford Thunderbird. When the 7th caution did fly at alp 88, Bob brought the car in because of a vibration in the rear end, a rear sway bar had broke and the crew had to replace it, while they changed that they also changed the right front shock as well. Bob lost 14 laps in the laps while the crew made repairs. Bob and the crew remained optimistic they could finish the event running and gain valuable ASA points and they did. As Bob continued to pass cars and the attrition was great, he perserveered to a very credible 16th place finish completing 383 laps of the 400 lap event."It was a long tough day, but at least we finished and were still 3rd in points", said Senneker. "Boy I gave the crew a workout today, I must have pitted a dozen times trying to fix the car." Senneker remains 3rd in ASA points, now 91 points behind the leader Raines and 73 behind 2nd place St. Amant. The winner of the race, and his first ASA career win was Brad Loney followed by, Sensiba, Raines, Smokstad, Roper, St. Amant, Schrock, Eddy, Holzhausen and Cywinski. The next event will be the Midwest 300 at Salem (IN) Speedway this Sunday (October 5th), the race will televised live on TNN at 2pm (EST).
