Isma Lucas Oil Super Series heads for Ohio

Oswego, NY With, hopefully, the twice-rained out Jim Shampine Memorial at Oswego Speedway in the record books, the ISMA Lucas Oil Super Series will be heading to Ohio for a double show in that Midwest State. Always an exciting venue, Toledo is first up on Friday, June 13 for a 50 lapper. On Saturday, the action swings over to the Sandusky Speedway for the first of two appearances there in 2003.

Toledo Speedway, which is located at 5639 Benore Road (take Ohio Turnpike to city. Rt. 280 to exit 210, Rt. 184 West. Benore Road is off Rt. 184), has been the site of some memorable racing in the past few years that ISMA has returned to this half-mile high bank. Last season, it was a duel between Russ Wood and Chris Perley as to who was fastest and who was the race winner. Wood grabbed the win Perley, the new track record of 13.222. The 50 lapper pays $3,200 to win. Pit gates open at 1 pm with warm-ups at 4 pm and time trials at 5:30. First heat is flagged at 7:30 pm.

Sandusky, with a newly paved surface, which is said to be "ultra smooth and wicked fast", is the scene of the second leg of the Ohio trip for ISMA. This June race at that famed supermodified oval is a new addition to the schedule as the Hy-Miler in July, with two shows, has been the sole visit for many years now. So, this one is anyone's ballgame -- no defending champ here. The Saturday night show at Sandusky is a 75 lapper, which pays $4,000 to win. Pit gates at Sandusky, located at 614 Perkins Ave, open at 10 am. Grandstand opens at noon. Warm-ups are at 2 pm with the first heat at 6 pm.

Remember at each event, anyone 17 or under may sign up for the free Haro bicycle, courtesy of ISMA, Lucas Oil and Doyle's Bicyckes, which will be given away prior to each of the feature events.
