Butch Miller grabs Toledo pole.

Toledo, OH (August 10, 2002) - Veteran Butch Miller of Coopersville (MI) won his fourth pole of 2002 and the 47th of his ASA career moving him to within two of the all-time leader Bob Senneker. Miller's fast time of 16.260 secs. / 110.701 mph gives him the top starting position for Sunday's Metro Toledo -- Northwest Ohio Ford Dealers 300 presented by Jani-King and Sterling. This weekend marks only his seventh start this season in the Indianapolis-based team and the number 04 ASI Limited entry.

"It was a pretty decent lap, although I picked up a little push," said Miller. "It was funny that when I came in nobody said much so I though maybe I missed it, but obviously not. The new surface here at Toledo is fine and with these BFGoodrich Radial tires they would really test this track and it has held up just fine."

Joey Clanton of Georgia, a seven-time winner in ASA this season, will start second alongside Miller. "My crew gets all the credit today," said Clanton. "We struggled and made multiple changes during the final practice session and got it figured out. You never have a pole until Butch Miller is through qualifying."

Robbie Pyle of Columbus, Kevin Cywinski of Wausau (WI) and Mike Garvey of Atlanta rounded out the top-five qualifiers.

Race day activities find the spectator gates opening at 11 a.m. with the on-track fan autograph session featuring the Glass City Dixieland Jazz Band starting at noon. The Metro Toledo -- Northwest Ohio Ford Dealers 300 will take the green flag at 2 p.m. (Eastern).
