Tim Steele to race Late Model Saturday; considering racing full-time at Berlin

MARNE, MI - Coopersville native Tim Steele has announced that he will race Saturday in the Coors Light Late Model feature, joining NASCAR veteran Johnny Benson and the Berlin Raceway regulars in a 100-lap double-length feature.

Steele, a third generation driver who raced a Late Model at Berlin in 1988 and 1989, has raced at all levels of stock car racing. The three-time ARCA RE/MAX Series Champion (1993, 1996 and 1997) has also raced a limited schedule in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (finishing 25th in points in 13 races in 1999), NASCAR Busch Grand National Series (10 races total from 1993 to 1997) and NASCAR Nextel Cup Series (5 races in 1994).

Steele recently traded an ARCA car to Chad Blount, a current ARCA and former Berlin Raceway driver, for Blount's Late Model car. Steele tested the car Wednesday at Berlin and will run Saturday. He has tentative plans to run the remainder of the season at Berlin. Steele has only missed one points race since the season opened on April 17 due to rainouts.
