Eighth place finish for Team ASILIMITED at Salem Speedway.

Salem, IN. (July 20, 2002) - Finding the proper set-up for Team ASILIMITED was a challenge all day for Crew Chief Deon Deneau. Dealing with the high banks as well as changes in the tires used from last year, the team thrashed all day trying to give Butch Miller the car he needed to win the race.

After Deon and Butch had traded thoughts throughout the day, a final set-up was decided upon for qualifications. This set-up was on target and Butch was able to motor the #04 ASILIMITED Monte Carlo to 3rd on the grid.

It was a clean race for Team ASILIMITED and Miller was able to keep the #04 in the top ten the entire race. Salem being a single groove race track, passes were a challenge. "I was loose in turns 3 and 4 and tight in turns 1 and 2. I was racing on the edge of my seat all day. Getting under someone was nearly impossible." says a tired Butch Miller.

While running in 6th place at lap 268, the #04 ASILIMITED Monte Carlo could not avoid water that had been leaked onto the track and hit the outside wall in turn 2. The water was from a blown radiator hose on the lapped car #83. The decision was made to come in for new tires and try to make one last final run. This spin ended any chance of a podium finish.

"We worked hard today getting the car set for this difficult track. A top 10 finish is great finish at Salem. It is a credit to the crew for the work they did in extreme heat today." Says a tired leader Deon Deneau.

"This is a great finish for our team. You can't win every race and if our fall is still in the top 10, I am satisfied. Our main goal is to be consistent week in and week out. We overcame many obstacles today and still ran most of the race in the top 5." Say an upbeat Team Owner Ken Smith.

The 2002 ASA Racing Series returns to action on Sunday, July 28 with the BFGoodrich Tires 300 at Madison International Speedway. The race will take the green flag just after 1 p.m. (Central) and will be telecast live on TNN.
