Anderson runner-up on Pepsi Night.
Good ol' short track racing was the big draw at Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway on Saturday night. Bruce and the Charles Anderson Lawn Care Team put their best foot forward and kicked into high gear for the Sheetz Limited Sportsman 50 lap feature.
"We pulled a good effort in qualifying", said Anderson, "the inside line was a good place to start. It was a pretty wild first lap, but we managed to avoid any trouble."
Bruce referred to a lap one melee caused by Wayne Roach taking his machine three wide with the lead cars. Bruce started fifth and avoided the lap one incident which solidified his place in the Top 5.
"I learned my lessons about patience last week", laughed Anderson, "This time Greg (Davis) told me to keep it together and be there at the end. It worked out and we posted our best finish of the year.
"I wasn't content to just ride it out, after getting into second, I wanted to go for the win, but with the lap traffic, I couldn't get to the leader. We slipped a little toward the end, but hey, third was respectable. It was only after the race that I learned everyone wasn't playing within the rules and we placed second.
"That moves us one step closer to a win and we're hungry. We get back to it on May 10th, I know this team can get to victory lane and we're going to show our friends and sponsors that we can mow over the competition in this Charles Anderson Lawn Care machine."
Bruce and Company look forward to winning in 2003 and are currently fifth in the overall Track Championship standings, they are still looking for that big break and some help to get them into victory lane.
