Chuck Roumell first win in 2 1/2 yrs in the AC Delco/Murray's Iceman Series happened Friday night May 23rd at Tri City Speedway. Roumell whose Wynn's/RJS/Five Star Monte Carlo was running 3rd inherited the lead when the first & second place cars of Steve Sauve & rookie Ray Meylan crashed on lap 92. The race was delayed for 40 minutes while repairs were made to the guardrail where Meylan's car went under it. The Onsted, Michigan driver held off a stiff challenge from Glenn Gault to take the win by a 1/2 car length.
1996 Rookie of Year Stan Boyd passed 3 cars in the final 8 laps to finish 3rd while rookie Tom Hernley Jr & Scott Baker finished 4th & 5th. The remainder of the top 10 were Jerry Cook, rookies Dennis Anscombe & Ray Meylan, Rich Rohrer & Gary Camelet.
