SOUTH BOSTON, Va. (July 192003)-- Nick Woodward snapped Philip Morris' four-race win streak Saturday night and collected a $1,500 bounty in the 150-lap Late Model feature race during Puckett Dodge Night Presented by Arctic Cat at Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway. Morris, suffering from an acute kidney stone attack before and during the double-points event, still managed a third-place finish and maintained his points lead for the season over Dean Ward. Pole sitter Ward, who came into the race second in the points standings, led from the pole until overtaken by Woodward on lap 120. Scott Worley and Jimmy Mullins rounded out the top five.
Adam Barker picked up his first win of the season Saturday night, winning from the pole in the Sheetz Limited Sportsman 50-lap double points event. It was a two-car race for most of the event, with Barker holding off a challenge from point's leader Jonathan Cash to take the win. Billy Myers charged from a sixth-place qualifying run to take third.
In the GRAND Home Furnishings Pure Stock 30, fourth-place qualifier Billy Goble came through the pack to win over Lee Anderson. Donald Glass took third, followed by Tommy Woolridge.
Mark Parks won the Southern Vintage Modified 25 event, taking the lead after pole sitter and veteran driver Monk Tate was collected in an early-race pileup. Ray Eanes, Bill Lacks, Randy Phillpott and Donnie Lacks round out the top five.
