Rain Postpones Seekonk ISMA Show Again; Makeup Date TBA

Seekonk, Mass. - With rain in the forecast for Saturday evening, Seekonk Speedway management, according to PR man Todd Baptista, mindful of the fact that many of the evening's International Super Modified Association competitors were traveling from Canada and New Jersey, postponed the racing program scheduled for Saturday, May 22. The early morning decision put a hold on the scheduled 75-lap Lucas Oil-Helping Hands America ISMA main. The open wheel machines completed their qualifying races at Seekonk on May 2 before rain forced the remainder of the show to be tabled.

An announcement will be made soon regarding a makeup date for the event, which was also scheduled to include the track's four NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series divisions and the twin Local-51 sponsored Seekonk Youth Racing Association classes. Admission tickets and wristbands from the rain-shortened Opening Day Celebration were slated to be honored on May 22.

For more Seekonk information, or to order tickets or gift certificates contact the speedway office at (508)-336-9959 or go online to www.seekonkspeedway.com.

To date ISMA has only gotten one of its scheduled events completed and that was at Wall Speedway on May 15. ISMA will now make another attempt at events number two and three this weekend as they travel to Kawartha Speedway, near Peterborough, Ontario, Canada for a Friday, May 28 evening show. They then turn back across the border for the t rip to Oswego and its traditional Jim Shampine Memorial twin bill for winged and non-winged Supermodifieds. Grandstands open at Kawartha at 4 pm with racing to get underway at 7 pm. The track is located southwest of Peterborough on Highway 115. Take the 464 exit off Rt. 401.

Oswego's show is an early one with grandstands open at 11 am, warm-ups at 11:30 am and racing at 2 pm. Limited Supermodifieds and super stocks join the ISMA and Oswego supers for the day of racing, sponsored by A&P Auto Parts, PBS and Furdi's. Don't forget to visit the A&P Hospitality tent to be set up outside the speedway to sign up for a set of Firestone INDY tires. There will also be a "The Pine" book signing prior to the racing and during intermission at Oswego by authors Andy Fusco and George Caruso Jr. That will take place under the main grandstand.
