ODESSA, MO - There's no doubt about it, Johnny Sauter and the A.P. = Performance Racing team are on a roll. Sauter once again made ASA = history by breaking the most wins by a rookie record with his victory at = the ASAracing.com 300 Saturday night at I-70 Speedway. The victory was = also his fourth in the last five races.

The weekend didn't start out perfect though. Half way through the = practice sessions Friday, a 32 pound piece of lead came flying off a car = in front of Johnny and headed straight for the car. The A.P. Plasman = Group Chevrolet sustained extensive damage to the hood and windshield, = however Johnny was unharmed. =20

Starting from the third position, Johnny remained in the top three = throughout most of the evening. Sauter took over the lead for the first = and final time at lap 244 when the leader, Rick Beebe, brushed the = outside wall.

After a brief yellow flag for rain, the field was ready to go back to = action and fight it out in the last 20 laps. With Beebe close behind, = Sauter knew he had to have a good restart. As they came around for the = green Johnny realized he was stuck in fourth gear, but heads up driving = kept him out in front.

"This is unbelievable," Johnny exclaimed. "The car was stuck in fourth = gear, it's a miracle I was able to get it out of third."

Sauter is currently fourth in the overall point standings. He has also = strengthened his lead in the rookie battle with his three closest = competitors all ending their night early.

ASA will visit Toledo Speedway for the Glass City 300 on Sunday July = 1st. Tune in to TNN at 1:00 pm EST for all the action.
