STEVE KOSISKI WINS LATE MODEL BATTLE AT LINCOLN

LINCOLN, NE.-August 28, 2000-Steve Kosiski won the Nebraska State Championship for Grand National Late Models, as State Fair Park Raceway kicked off it's four day stand of auto racing, Monday night to a big crowd of fair goers. Kosiski got the jump on his little brother and pole sitter, Ed, and then held off charges held off a late charge by Kyle Berck to claim the 25 lap A Feature. It was Steve's first time in the Dave Doll owned, Bob Ward wrenched Catipiller 97D and he had control of the race from beginning to end. Ed Kosiski hung on to second for the first half of the race, but when the leaders hit lapped traffic he began to fade. John Anderson then made his presence known, picking off Ed then going after Steve. Meanwhile, Berck was making his way through field after starting in the third row, claiming third from E. Kosiski on lap 19. On lap 21, fifth and sixth running Bob Milander and Steve Kempf tangled in turn four bringing out the yellow. Milander rejoined at the tail of the field, but Kempf's car suffered to much front end damage to continue. This made it a four lap dash to the checkered with Steve having a lapped car between himself and Anderson. On the restart, Steve Kosiski pulled to a big lead, while Anderson and Berck battled for the runner-up spot. Berck claimed the spot coming off of turn four at the end of lap 23, but S. Kosiski was to far out for Kyle to make a run in the laps left. Anderson, E. Kosiski, and Marc Peters rounded out the top five. Heat race victories were notched by Reggie Roth, E. Kosiski, Anderson, S. Kosiski and Kempf. The three B Features were taken by, Rick Stolley, Dave Cook and Eddie Moore. Doug Adamy led all the way to win the Street Stock main, despite breaking a right rear shock absorber in the first few laps. He was followed across the line in the 20 lapper by, Chris Johnson, Ronda Mewes, Jason Logan and Ron Pettit. Heat winners were, Mewes, Jim Buss, Pettit, Scott Boyer, Mike Shriver and Adamy. B Features were won by, Jamie Eckmeier, Shawn Alberts and Travis Loeckor. A total of 52 Grand Nationals and 59 Street Stocks were present for the races. Tuesday night at State Fair Park will feature the O'Reilly's All Star tour Late Models along with the Central Nebraska Circle Track Association IMCA Late Models. <pre> Results: Street Stocks: 1st heat-1.
