ASA MEMBER TRACK PROGRAM REACHES INTO NEW HAMPSHIRE WITH SIGNING OF RIVERSIDE SPEEDWAY
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 6, 2005) -- The ASA Racing Member Track program has expanded deep into the Northeast with the announcement that they have re-signed Riverside Speedway, located in Groveton, N.H.
A member of the program last year, Riverside Speedway re-joins as a Level II participant in the ASA Racing Member Track program. The regular Saturday night program features racing in several classes, including the Late Model, Street Stock, and Super Stocks. Alternating with these are Enduro, Ladies and Youth divisions on the paved, high-banked quarter-mile oval.
"There are a lot of dedicated race fans in the New England area and tracks like Riverside Raceway are where they go to get their racing fix filled," explained Dennis Huth, president of Racing Speed Associates which acquired the ASA Racing Member Track program late last year. "Riverside Speedway is able to capture the live audience thanks to the great racing programs that they consistently host each Saturday night."
One major change this year is that the schedule has been shortened and will start with the June 4 PASS Tour 150 and PASS Modifieds. The season continues until the September 24 finale. The full schedule and other information about Riverside Speedway can be found on the Internet at www.RiversideSpeedway.org or by telephoning (603) 636-2005.
"We think that by having a shorter season we will be able to better serve our audience and racers both," explained CJ Robinson, owner of Riverside Speedway. "We cut several weeks off what we had done in past years and this will allow us to take better advantage of the weather, promote better racing action on the track, and allow our competitors more time to spend with their families."
Another change this season is the addition of Dick Therrien as the track's general manager.
"Dick brings to us a new level of enthusiasm that I think will spill over onto the other staff members and the teams," Robinson said. "We are truly fortunate that he will be part of the daily operation of Riverside Speedway and look for him to help make this our best season yet.
"I'm pleased that we can be part of the ASA Racing Member Track program again this season," Robinson continued. "I've been a fan of Dennis (Huth) and what he was able to accomplish with it last year. Now that he has ownership of the program I think that he will really be able to take it in new directions that will benefit the short tracks around America."
Tracks and regional touring series that join the ASA Racing Member Track Level II program are eligible to receive marketing assistance, enhanced participant accident insurance, and will be the spot for today's fans to watch the stars of tomorrow learn the trade. Huth indicated that he has other exciting ideas and plans to help take the local racing programs to new levels and to further enhance the coverage of the tracks and series competitors.
